When installing environmental protection technology equipment, there are actually three key things our installation team must get right: First, ensure precise alignment with the centerline; second, pay close attention to horizontal levelness; and third, adjust for any deviations in elevation. If these three aspects are handled correctly and thoroughly, installing exhaust gas treatment equipment will become remarkably straightforward.

  When installing environmental protection technology equipment, there are actually three key things we must get right during the installation process: First, align precisely with the centerline; second, pay close attention to horizontal alignment; and third, adjust for any deviations in elevation. If these three aspects are handled correctly and thoroughly, installing exhaust gas treatment equipment will become remarkably straightforward. The first thing to do is to accurately align with the centerline. During installation, it’s crucial to identify the equipment’s centerline. Precision-machined surfaces on the production equipment—such as the main shaft and bearing holes—can all serve as reliable references for determining the centerline.

  The second point: It’s crucial to ensure that the machinery and equipment are properly leveled after installation. There’s no need to elaborate on its importance—how could we possibly guarantee the equipment’s efficiency if it’s tilted? Any inclination relative to the horizontal plane directly affects the equipment’s stability and its center-of-gravity balance. Moreover, for machinery with rotating components, a tilt will inevitably lead to vibrations caused by inertial forces. Additionally, tilting can worsen lubrication conditions and, due to additional loads, result in excessive wear of the equipment, thereby reducing its operational quality and accuracy. The purpose of leveling is to maintain the stability of the installation, minimize vibrations, prevent deformation, ensure working accuracy, and avoid premature and unreasonable wear. Therefore, it’s essential to meet the equipment’s specified requirements for levelness, parallelism, and perpendicularity. During installation, follow the manufacturer’s instructions or the “Equipment Installation and Acceptance Standards of the Ministry of Machinery Industry.”

  (1) Determine the location of the leveling reference surface. Generally, the guiding surfaces of sliding components (such as machine tool guideways), component assembly surfaces, support surfaces of workholding fixtures, and workbench surfaces are used as leveling reference surfaces.

  (2) The selection of shims for installation shall be in accordance with Instruction 15 and the relevant technical documents for the equipment. The function of shims is to ensure that the equipment is supported on the foundation with greater stability and more uniform load distribution, and to facilitate adjustment of the equipment’s installation level and assembly accuracy through the use of shims. Therefore, the choice of shim type, size, quantity, and installation location is of great importance.

  (1) The specifications of anchor bolts, nuts, and washers shall comply with the requirements specified in the instruction manual and the design drawings, and shall be selected according to JB15—1959. Equipment subject to significant vibration should be fitted with locknuts. Machine tools with long guideways should use spherical washers.

  Third, locate the elevation reference line. Elevation refers to the height of the installation’s reference point relative to the surface (or line) being measured. After large-scale equipment is installed, it will gradually settle during operation. Therefore, after a new piece of equipment has been running for a certain period, it’s essential to periodically monitor changes in the elevations at various observation points. Consequently, if necessary, the waste gas treatment equipment may need to be disassembled and reinstalled. Locating the elevation involves bringing a specific reference plane (or line) of mechanical equipment to the specified height. Typically, this is done by directly measuring the distance from the reference point to the equipment’s elevation measurement surface (or line) for verification purposes.
