The HBAO octane-enhancing additive is a semi-synthetic heavy oil catalytic cracking co-catalyst whose active component is a modified composite molecular sieve and whose binder is a composite aluminum compound. This co-catalyst has a moderate density and excellent wear resistance, and while enhancing gasoline octane rating, it also effectively reduces the olefin content in gasoline.
After adding a 5% HBAO additive to the catalyst, gasoline yield slightly decreased, liquefied petroleum gas yield slightly increased, and the overall liquid yield remained virtually unchanged. However, the octane rating of gasoline showed a significant improvement, with the Motor Octane Number (MON) increasing by 0.9 and the Research Octane Number (RON) increasing by 1.33.
